This is a very finely made old map of Scandinavia from 1720, created and published by Bavarian mapmaker Johann Baptist Homann - one of the most notable European mapmakers of the 18th century.
Not only does this map include the usual candidates - Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland - it also has the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, and big chunks of Russia, Germany and Poland.
If you're looking for an even older and weirder map of Scandinavia, check out the Carta Marina from 1539: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/894016186/old-map-of-scandinavia-1539-carta-marina
This map looks amazing at all sizes, from 12x16 inches (30x40cm) to 16x20 inches (40x50cm) and 18x24 (45x60cm). It looks truly beautiful at larger sizes like 24x36 inches (60x90cm) and beyond. I can print this map at sizes up to 100 inches wide - 250cm.
This map of Scandinavia would make a perfect gift for someone who loves to travel or explore, or it would look great as wall art on your own walls! It's a beautiful piece of wall art that would make a good housewarming gift.
You can order the map itself, or you can order a framed version. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that really makes our maps pop out when on a wall. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame, or if you'd like to frame one of the larger map sizes.
We use super-clear acrylic (perspex/acrylite) in our frames - it's less reflective than glass and better for transport.
