Old Map of Norwich, East Anglia 1581 by Georg Braun, Civitates Orbis Terrarum - Castle, City Walls

Published in 1581 by Georg Braun and Frans Hogenberg, this is probably the first (and rarest) printed map of Norwich. If Shakespeare visited Norwich, this is what it would've looked like. This map was first published in Civitates Orbis Terrarum - the Cities of the World - which was a cartographical masterpiece featuring 546 maps.

Norwich was a pretty big town almost 450 years ago. But the only structures you'll likely be able to identify are the city walls and the castle.

You may recognise that some of the streets are in the same position too.

This would make a wonderful birthday, work leaving, housewarming, Christmas or Father's Day gift for someone from Norwich or who has East Anglia in their heart.

This map looks great at all sizes from 12x18 inches (30x40cm), to 16x20 inches (40x50cm) and 24x36 inches (60x90cm). But it looks even better when printed large.
