Taylor and published in 1930 by Pratts Oil - which was known as Standard Oil in the US and only a few months later as Esso in the UK.

• This map looks great at all sizes: 12x12 inches (31x31cm), 16x16in (40x40cm) and 24x24 inches (61x61cm), but it looks even better when printed large.

I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 45x45 inches (115x115cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.

The model in the listing images is holding the 16x16 inch (40x40cm) version of this map.

Taylor was commissioned to create a series of maps of the United Kingdom and Ireland to encourage people to drive around the country in their new-fangled motor carriages (aka cars) - which, of course, would consume Esso oil!

Almost all of the towns and villages of the New Forest region of Hampshire are visible on this map, including Lyndhurst in the middle - and in many cases, accompanied by a beautiful little illustration of the town's high street or other notable landmark.

Dotted across the maps are also cute observations and literary phrases... the whole thing is rather nice.

Take a look at the detailed images and try to spot your town! Feel free to message me if you want to confirm if a certain town or village is on this map.

This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, Father's Day, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone from the New Forest or who is a bit of a petrolhead or car history buff.

This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.

The Unique Maps Co.
10x10 inches (25x25cm) /
